Intervals called like a roller derby jam: whistle codes and a bench voice over your music, eyes on the track, screen off.

Intertakt Introduction

Roller derby runs its whole clock by ear. A jam is two minutes of flat-out interval work, and not one skater in the pack can spare an eye for a clock: the jam opens on a single whistle, closes on four, and everything in between arrives over the arena music as a shouted call from the bench. The track takes the eyes; the timing arrives as sound.

Intertakt runs interval training on the same arrangement. Your playlist plays exactly as you set it. Countdown beeps mark each boundary like the whistle codes, and a clear voice calls every HIIT and Tabata interval, the halfway mark and the last round — voice, beeps and music each with their own volume, so the call lands over the track without stopping it. Start the session and put the phone face-down: with the screen off, on Do Not Disturb, in a pocket or a towel, the round keeps running.

Interruptions are handled the way derby handles a jam called off early: what is already on the scoreboard stays there. An incoming call or an app switch holds the round instead of killing it — the session resumes from the exact second it stopped, never back to the opening whistle.
